Scholarship Chair Dr. Mary Lou Frank
“The Annual Possible Woman Leadership Conference, featuring dynamic speakers each spring in Atlanta, inspires women from all walks of life and helps fund these annual scholarships” said Linda Wind, organizer of the conference and founder of the foundation.
The seven 2014 PWFI scholars are:
- Latoya Freeman, a third-year medical student at Morehouse School whose journey first began in Kingston, Jamaica, received the Linda Wind and Bettie Traeger Making a Difference Scholarship
- Suzette Meza, a Conflict Resolution and Legal Studies major at Brenau University, is fluent in Spanish and passionate about different cultures and the laws that shapes our lives
- Audrey Owens, pursuing a degree in History, Technology & Society at Georgia Tech, spent her junior year in Nicaragua, Thailand, and Kenya and is a leader in the Southwestern Advantage sales and leadership program
- Mashae Pitt, Alcatel-Lucent Women’s Leadership Network and PWFI Scholar, is majoring in Mathematics and Economics at Spelman College and interning with Goldman Sachs’ Human Capital Management in New York
- Edna Reid, Emily Grigsby Scholar from Mandeville, Jamaica, is pursuing a career in nursing and loves running track
- Ariel Santillan, an honor student at Georgia Tech majoring in International Affairs and Modern Languages, is of Peruvian heritage and intends to pursue a career in international education
- Victoria Wall, a third-year student at Georgia Tech studying International Affairs and Modern Languages, has studied in Japan and plays in the Georgia Tech marching and pep bands

Several named scholarships were given out this year as in previous years. They are The Women’s Leadership Network of Alcatel Lucent Scholarship awarded to Marshea Pitt, The Emily Bourne Grigsby Scholarship given by Emily Grigsby to Edna Reid and The Linda Wind and Bettie Traeger Making a Difference Scholarship awarded to Latoya Freeman. Previous Named Scholarships include: Wind Enterprises Environmental Scholarship, The Women of AT&T Scholarship, The Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice Scholarship, The Alcatel Lucent Scholarship and The Marianne Kalmbach Memorial Scholarship (awarded to an applicant who is pursuing a career in Law.) We are very grateful to those donors who have contributed to the Named Scholarship Fund.
In addition to funding scholarships, the Possible Woman Foundation International features a formal mentoring program, led by Mary Lou Frank, Ph.D., and Susan Ahern. Other board members of the 501c3 foundation are: Kathy Wilson-Chu, Pat Koehn, Alice Cannon, Barbara Rose (chair), Diana Sauvigne, Candace Wood, Terrie Hudson and Kathy Mooney. Serving on the advisory board are Maria Sutej, Patricia Falotico, Nellie Duke, Gail Evans, Susan McLaughlin, Emily Grigsby and Linda Wind.
