Possible Woman Foundation International Gives Five Scholarships

Possible Woman Scholarship Recipients

The Possible Woman Foundation International (PWFI) has presented scholarships to five women students seeking non-traditional roles or occupations:

Samantha Williams has a degree in Photography from the Art Institute of Atlanta and is studying biology at Georgia Tech, with plans to study Veterinary Medicine at UGA.
Thoa Shook emigrated from Vietnam. At Gainesville State College she received Merit, President’s and Non-Traditional Student honors. Now at Georgia Tech, she is majoring in Biomedical Engineering.
Tory Tickerhoof is majoring in Nuclear and Radiological Engineering at Georgia Tech and works at the Alumni Association under the Living History Program.
Caroline Campbell Smith is a ceramic artist with a degree from Tulane. She is pursing a degree in Environmental Engineering at Georgia Tech.
Jasmine St. Bernard is majoring in Conflict Resolution and Legal Studies at Brenau University.

The scholarships were presented at an Awards Dinner at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Buckhead on April 26. The recipients were also recognized at the Possible Woman Conference at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis the next day. The conference supports the Possible Woman Foundation International which provides academic scholarships for women in need who are returning to school to pursue non-traditional roles or occupations, and connects them with women trailblazers in these industries. Since 2001, the Foundation has raised more than $200,000 for academic scholarships for women.

Board members of the Possible Woman Foundation International include: Susan Ahern, Kathy Wilson-Chu, Dr. Mary Lou Frank, Pat Koehn, Barbara Rose, Ellen Springer and Diana Sauvigne. The Foundation Advisory Board includes Alice Cannon, Nellie Duke, Gail Evans, Emily Grigsby, Susan McLaughlin and Linda Wind.
